Goals of the project included consideration of program revisions to better respond to current uses and improve the general curb appeal. The new Lounge at the Campus Center provides an area for Commuters to do work or pass time between classes while on Campus.
Feasibility Study: this included review of accessibility concerns and finish options.
Phase I Renovations: the work addressed accessibility and life/safety concerns at the first floor level; provided new finishes for existing wall and floor surfaces throughout the auditorium as well as new seating at the first floor level.
The main goal of this project was to increase the seating capacity of the exsiting auditotium. A connector was added to the exterior of the building to maintain code compliance for the increased occupency, while also helping strengthen the auditorium’s connection with the rest of the campus. Also included in the project were remedial renovations to nearby support spaces, including offices, storage spaces, and the adjacent corridors.
Feasibility Study: Civitects oversaw architectural, preservation, conservation and structural consultant services to develop an exterior and interior restoration and renovation program for this much-used performance venue.
Phase I Renovations: the work included analysis of interior painted finishes and cleaning of historic murals, minor areas of exterior masonry restoration to address moisture infiltration and to protect historic murals, theatrical upgrades and re-opening of the original balcony.
This addition to the Wareham YMCA, completed in 2004, was undertaken 12 months after the opening of the facility as one of a number of planned expansion phases. In response to high demand on the original Wellness Center, this new space increased the area of the original venue by fifty percent and is now home to the free weight room allowing for new cardiovascular and resistance training equipment in the original space.
