To meet the evolving and increasingly complex demands the world faces with cyber-attacks, Bridgewater State University has embarked on the development of a new program of study in the field of Cyber Security.

Over two years in the making, the Cyber Range consists of a series of spaces that will provide individuals with critical training in the rapidly growing field of cybersecurity and how to respond to potentially devastating cyberattacks. The range is designed to heighten user’s emotional response through lighting, sound effects, and vibrating chairs and tables, creating a unique sensory experience within a high tech setting. Programmatic spaces include the new Cyber Range equipped with advanced AV technology and software intended to provide an interactive experience, as well as a new Control Room, Briefing Room and Reception space.

Originally designed prior to the enactment of the ADA, one of the prime goals of the project was to provide easy and direct handicapped access to both venues. Additional goals of the project included consideration of program revisions to better respond to current uses and improve general curb appeal.

The revisions to the Campus Center Main Entrance include an open and flexible plan that will serve as a link between East and West Campuses with various digital media upgrades.

This project was part of a multi-phased renovation to the existing lab spaces in Umass’ Textile Building. This phase of the project included a pair of teaching labs (for both “wet” and “dry” experiments) and a portion of the surrounding support spaces, for both current and future use. Due to the phased nature of the project careful consideration had to be given when planning the spaces in order to avoid redundant or unnecessary work in future phases. Additionally the support spaces were planned in order to allow use by both the current and future labs planned for the space.
